Union Marine Enterprises SA is a ship management company, based in Akti Miaouli (Piraeus), established in April 1985 as successors of Yemelos Bros Marine Enterprises, a ship management firm originating in the 1960s.
The company has a strong family tradition in shipping and its current fleet comprises 5 bulk carriers, primarily of the Supramax and Kamsarmax types, which transport homogeneous cargo and commodities in bulk, i.e grains, agricultural products, minerals, concentrates, steel products, fertilizers, coal as well as parcel cargoes of different commodities.
All ships trade on a worldwide basis, both on voyage and timecharter bases including spot and medium to long-term period cover and are chartered exclusively through Dromon Maritime Agency Ltd, a shipbroking agency based in London.
Union Marine Enterprises SA is ISM, ISPS and MLC certified by Lloyds Register on behalf of the Hellenic Republic Ministry of Mercantile Affairs and is a member of HELMEPA (Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association) and BIMCO. Port State Control records have consistently been good reflecting the corporate emphasis on quality, safety and excellence. The company operates with 16 shore-based and about 100 sea-going personnel from Greece, Romania and the Philippines.
Insurance cover is placed with the UK P&I Club for P&I and FD&D risks, with first class Underwriters for Hull & Machinery risks and with the Hellenic War Risk Association for war risks. The fleet's current age is 5,5 years, on average.
